Now that the Summer Travel Season is here many families are hitting the road for vacation. There are lots of ways to make your vacation dollar go farther. Here are just a few:

- Visit After a Major Event – The 2012 Summer Olympics will be held in London this Summer from July 27th to August 12th. You can get great deals on travel packages and lodging as hotels and restaurants scramble to fill empty rooms and tables.
- Negotiate for Lodging – Travel websites like Priceline.com allow you to choose your location and hotel star rating before placing your bid. As long as you don’t mind being several miles from area attractions, you can save over 50% on lodging. I recently used priceline to save 35% off my hotel bill which is closer to the average amount you will save.
