Frugal Living Tip: Consider DIY Classes Before Starting a Project

DIY ClassesDIY Many people cringe at the thought of do it yourself.  The key to a positive DIY experience is to 1) have the skills necessary to successfully complete the project  2) have the time and motivation to finish the project.  Most DIY project failures are a result of not having one of these 3 components.

 

Some tips for learning DIY tips that can save you money:

  • Take a DIY Class at your local home improvement center.  There are lots of classes taught by professionals on topics such as plumbing, laying tile, painting, etc.
  • Run into a problem during a DIY project?  YouTube has thousands of channels devoted to DIY and you can see an expert show you how to do it for free!
  • Many businesses are understanding the powerful marketing potential of offering free DIY classes to the public.  For exampleCake Decorating Stores are a great way to learn how to decorate a cake.
  • Cities offer many DIY opportunities for residents from landscaping to gardening. Check your local cities' website to find when classes will be offered.

 

You can even turn those DIY skills into an income earning opportunity.

      A picture is worth a thousands words, or so they say. Youtube is awesome for DIY instructional videos when you get stuck.

    I am a fan of DIY projects because I love the thought of making it on my own and with kids. I always get projects on the Web or watch DYI videos on Youtube. And I am probably planning to enroll for a class to further my skills.

      I’m in the middle of installing wood flooring, it’s a big project but what a difference it makes!
