These benefits will help cover some of your standard expenses and help put more money back into your pocket.

  • Jobseeker’s Allowance. If you have recently lost your job and are actively looking for a new one, you may qualify for Jobseeker’s Allowance. This payment is made bi-weekly for up to £56.80 per week. Once you qualify, you will continue to receive this benefit until you are able to find a new job.

  • Winter Fuel Payment. The Winter Fuel Payment program is designed to help offset some of the costs associated with your fuel bill. This is an annual lump-sum payment in the amount of £100 to £300, and is not taxable, nor does it need to be repaid.
  • Cold Weather Payment. This payment is paid to low-income families only when the temperature is 7° C or lower for seven straight days. The payment is for £25 and will automatically be paid each time this occurs once you have signed-up for the program. The food pantries distribute free food on a monthly basis, whereas soup kitchens offer free meals to people on a daily basis. If utilized, both programs can help reduce the amount of money you need to spend each month on food.
